Overview: Credits-Based Pricing
Jasper uses a hybrid pricing model that combines a platform fee with consumption-based billing via credits. This approach aligns costs with usage, charging only for high-value actions such as Grid outputs, Optimization & Research Agent runs, and API usage. Credits are designed to be scalable and transparent, making Jasper flexible and cost-effective for businesses of all sizes.
Core features such as Chat, Apps, Studio, and IQ remain unlimited and are included in all business plans. Credits are only required for specific advanced actions.
What Costs Credits?
Credits are shared across an entire workspace—there is one “bank” for all users. Actions that currently cost credits include:
- API and MCP usage: Charged on the credit system.
- Grid usage: Generating outputs in the Grid incurs a “row surcharge” (credits per output row). The Grid includes a “testing” portion of rows at no credit cost, allowing workflows to be refined before large-scale generation.
- Advanced tools: Such as Research & Optimization Agent runs
Note: The list of credit-based actions will expand as more premium features are launched.
How Workspaces Get and Manage Credits
Base Credits and Purchasing More
- Included Credits: Business workspaces receive a base number of credits with their platform fee.
- Buying Additional Credits: More credits can be purchased through contacting your Jasper account team. You may also contact our support team at hey@jasper.ai.
Credit Plans: Prepaid vs. Pay-as-You-Go
- Prepaid: Credits are purchased in packs, usually at a discounted rate. They expire on contract renewal or if the subscription is canceled.
- Pay-as-You-Go (PAYG): Usage is charged monthly for any overage above included credits. PAYG is flexible and can have a maximum limit per month set by an admin.
Credit Meter and Tracking
- Credit Meter: A real-time credit meter displays available credits in the workspace—visible in the Grid and Canvas when applicable.
- Action Visibility: The number of credits an action will consume is shown before execution (e.g., by the “Run” button).
Admin Controls and User Permissions
- Controlling Credit Access: By default, all workspace users can spend credits. Admins can disable credit access per user in Team settings (via a toggle/menu next to each role). Non-credit users can request access, prompting an admin approval notification.
- Setting PAYG Limits: Admins set and manage PAYG/overage limits in Workspace Settings under the Credit Settings section. Unlimited overages are permitted unless a maximum limit is set. Admins have the ability to disable PAYG.
- Usage Visibility: Admins access credit balance and usage breakdowns (by feature, over time, and soon by user) in Workspace Settings > Usage.
- Notifications: Admins receive in-app and/or email alerts at defined low-credit thresholds (10,000 → 5,000 → 1,000 → 0 credits, plus any overage max reached).
- Audit Log: Changes to overage settings are not currently tracked in the audit log but are planned for future updates.

- Admins can disable or enable credit spending for users individually.
- Icons identify which users can spend credits; access can be managed via a menu next to each team member.

- Audit Usage: The Usage dashboard helps identify which users or actions are consuming the most credits (coming soon).
