How to Use the Document Editor

Documents provide an endless playground of possibilities when creating content! Let’s walk through the different functions when interacting with a document.

Start a New Document

To start a new document:

  • Click the purple "+ Create content" button in the upper left-hand corner of the Home page
  • Click "New document" (or one of the templates or campaign)
  • This will open a new tab with your fresh new document

TIP: If you are having an issue with this, please ensure pop-up blockers are disabled.

Compose

When you click the Compose button (or CMD + J on Mac, CTRL + J on PC), Jasper reads the text you have written before your cursor and does his best to continue writing. Think of it like telling a human writing assistant to keep working while you enjoy a refreshing beverage.

When you do this, Jasper will look for patterns, instructions, and clues based on your previous text to decide what to write next.

To better understand how Jasper decides what to write, reference How Jasper Thinks in our AI Essentials Collection.

Before you hit compose, you need to provide Jasper with relevant details and instructions to guide his outputs. There are two ways to influence Jasper's writing.

The first is adding information in the input fields on the left-hand side.

Jasper Brand Voice

To ensure continuity in your writing be sure to select the brand voice you would like your content to be written in.

  • Click on "Select a voice" in the top right-hand corner of the document
  • Select the voice
  • Click "Save"

Saving a Document and Document History

And finally, your document is automatically saved as you write. This will be signified by a green check mark in the upper right-hand corner.

Ask Jasper Function

A quick and easy way to edit your content is to highlight it and click on the "Ask Jasper" button that pops up. From here you have a few options:
