Overview: What Is Translation Agent?

Translation Agent is a built-in Jasper agent that translates marketing content into 27 supported languages. It's designed to produce output that reads as if it was originally written in the target language — rather than simply converted from the first written language.

What sets it apart from generic translation tools:

  • Glossary enforcement — Upload a glossary to your Knowledge Base and Translation Agent respects your terminology throughout the entire translation process.
  • Brand voice — Jasper IQ applies across all languages, keeping tone and style consistent with your brand.
  • Editorial review — A dedicated review phase checks the translation for anything that sounds translated rather than natively written, and refines accordingly.
  • Built for marketing content — Purpose-built for campaigns, web copy, sales materials, and product content.

You can use Translation Agent in Canvas for single-document translation, or as a column in Jasper Grid to run translations at scale across many rows simultaneously.

Optionally, attach a glossary file to ensure specific terms are translated exactly the way you need them.

Using Translation Agent in Canvas

Translation Agent in Canvas is ideal for translating a single document. Attach it in Chat and prompt the agent with a target language — Jasper outputs the translated content directly into your Canvas.

Set up your files

  1. If you have specialized terms that need consistent translation, upload a glossary file to your Knowledge Base. The file name must include the word "glossary" so Jasper can automatically detect it.
  2. Upload the document you want to translate to your Knowledge Base as well.

Keep in mind: You can only use one glossary file at a time. Combine all your terms into a single master glossary document before uploading.

Translate a document

  1. Navigate to your Project > Chat.
  2. Select the default agent, then switch to Translation Agent.
  3. Attach your document from the Knowledge Base.
  4. Use a prompt like: "Translate the attached document to Finnish."

Jasper generates the translated output directly into your Canvas.

Using Translation Agent in Jasper Grid

The Translation Agent column lets you translate content at scale — running translations automatically across every row in a Grid. Each column takes two inputs you configure: a source column and a target language.

Add a Translation Agent column

  1. Open any Grid and click + Add column.
  2. Select Translation Agent from the agent section.
  3. Configure the column:
  4. Source column — choose any Text, Prompt, App, or Knowledge column to the left. This is the content that gets translated.
  5. Target language — choose from 27 supported languages, or point to a Text or Dropdown column if the language varies per row.
  6. Give the column a name and click Add.
  7. Run the row — translated output appears per row, just like any other agent column.

Add a glossary (optional)

If you want Jasper to respect specific term mappings during translation:

  1. Add a Knowledge Base column to your Grid and attach your glossary file. The file name must include the word "glossary."
  2. In your Translation Agent column settings, reference the Knowledge Base column as the glossary source.

This is especially useful for running branded or technical translations at scale across multiple assets.

Supported Languages

Translation Agent supports 27 languages, including Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, and major European languages including Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese. To see the full list, open the target language selector when setting up your Translation Agent column or Canvas workflow.

Limitations

Keep these in mind when using Translation Agent:

  • No dedicated glossary UI — Glossaries are stored as text files in the Knowledge Base. Flexible formats are supported (comma-separated, arrow notation, pipe-separated, free-form text), but there's no spreadsheet-style editor.
  • One language per run in Canvas — Run a separate session for each target language. In Grid, add one Translation Agent column per language.
  • No regional dialect picker — The UI doesn't have a dialect selector. You can specify a regional preference in your prompt (e.g., "Translate to Brazilian Portuguese").
  • Document size limit — Knowledge Base items support up to 100,000 characters (~20-30 pages). Very large documents are automatically split into chunks for processing.
  • Unsupported file types — Image files and spreadsheets (CSV, Excel) cannot be translated. PDFs, Word docs, audio, video, and URLs are all supported.
