Agent versioning lets you improve an Agent without changing what your team runs today. Create a new version, test it, and make it active when it is ready. Only the active version is used to generate outputs.
When to create a new version
Create a new version when the Agent’s job changes, such as when you add or change steps, inputs, outputs, or the Jasper IQ selections used by the Agent.
For changes to a disclaimer, messaging rule, banned word, Knowledge Base content, or Style Guide, update the relevant Knowledge Base or Style Guide in Jasper IQ instead. Agents that use those resources follow the updates.
Create a new version
- Open the Agent in Studio.
- Under Agent version, select Create new version.
- Make your changes. For example, update the Instructions or change the Audiences in the Agent’s Jasper IQ settings.
- Select Save version [n].
Note: Unsaved changes are not carried into a new version. Save your work first, or Studio asks you to confirm before creating the new version.
Add version details
Add a comment to help collaborators understand what changed and what you tested. Comments can contain up to 2,000 characters.
- Open the version’s details.
- Add a Comment.
- Select Save.
Test and activate a version
- Use Select version to open the version you want to review. The active version is labeled (Active).
- Select Test, then choose Test in Studio or Test in Canvas.
- Run the version with representative inputs.
- When the version is ready, select Make version [n] active.
Delete a version
You can delete only the latest version, and only when it is not active. Deletion is permanent.
Tips for managing versions
- Create a new version before making a high-impact change instead of duplicating the Agent.
- Add a short comment to each version that describes the change and what you tested.
- Keep the previous active version available until the new version has run successfully.

Do I need a new version when our Style Guide or Knowledge Base content changes?
Usually not. Update the Style Guide or Knowledge Base item in Jasper IQ. Agents that use it follow the update.
