Integrations: Semrush
Connecting Semrush to Jasper gives your GEO Agent and Studio Agents access to real keyword, competitive, and SERP data. Both agents work without a Semrush connection, but linking your account grounds their research and recommendations in actual search data instead of general knowledge.
Setting Up Semrush
There are two ways to connect Semrush to Jasper:
- Workspace-level (API key): A Jasper Admin connects a single Semrush account for the entire workspace using an API key.
- User-level (OAuth): A Jasper Admin turns on user-level access, then each person on your team connects their own Semrush account through OAuth.
For Jasper Admins
- Go to Settings > Team Integrations.
- Find Semrush and choose either Workspace-level (API key) or User-level (OAuth).
- If you choose Workspace-level, enter your Semrush API key and click Save.
- If you choose User-level, turn on user-level access and click Save. This enables OAuth so individual users can connect their own accounts.
For Users (When User-Level/OAuth Is Enabled)
- Go to Settings > Integrations.
- Find Semrush and connect your account via OAuth.
Keep in mind: if your organization wants OAuth but only sees the API-key option, Semrush is currently set up as workspace-level. A Jasper Admin needs to switch it to user-level under Settings > Team Integrations.
A Note on Semrush Credits
Semrush API credits are separate from your Jasper credits. Any Semrush activity you run through Jasper draws from the credits available on your connected Semrush plan, so keep an eye on your usage there.
Adding Semrush Tools to a Studio Agent
- Open your Studio Agent configuration and select Add tool.
- Select each Semrush tool you want the agent to access, such as Keyword Research, Competitor Keyword Research, Organic Positions, or Competitor Domain Research.
- Click Save.
- To reference a connected tool in your agent instructions, type @ in the instructions field and select the tool and its inputs from the list.
Using Semrush with the GEO Agent
Once connected, the GEO Agent can:
- Discover topic keywords along with their search volume and difficulty
- Retrieve volume, difficulty, and competition data for keywords you select
- Compare keywords that drive traffic to one domain but not another
- Identify the domains, URLs, and SERP features that rank for a given keyword
Try asking the GEO Agent things like:
- “What are our site’s top non-branded keywords right now?”
- “Which sites are ranking on page one for ‘[topic]’?”
- “What keywords is [competitor.com] ranking for that we’re not?”
- “How much search volume is there for ‘[keyword]’ and how hard would it be to rank for?”
